If you're watching "The Game" between Ohio State and Michigan, don't expect to see local high football stars on the field.

There aren't many Ohio State football players from the counties of Summit and Stark these days.

Gone are the days of Mike Doss (McKinley High School) and Chris "Beanie" Wells (Garfield High School). Michigan's roster doesn't feature any players this year from Summit or Stark county. Ohio State's roster only has three. They are:

  • Eli Lee (Archbishop Hoban) – A freshman and former three-star recruit, Lee has played in two games this season registering two tackles. He can play up to two more games while maintaining his redshirt status this season.
  • Brennen Schramm (Medina) – A preferred walk-on known more for his academics. Schramm is a two-time OSU scholar-athlete and Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
  • Shawn Lodge, (St. Vincent-St. Mary) – Another preferred walk-on, Lodge transferred to Ohio State from Presbyterian College starting with the 2024 season.

Don't forget about Ohio State offensive coordinator Brian Hartline, though

The most impactful person on the Ohio State football team doesn’t even play. That would be offensive coordinator Brian Hartline, who is from North Canton and starred at GlenOak High School.

Hartline has become known as a wide receiver guru with the Buckeyes, who have had five players at the position be drafted in the top 20 the last four years.

Ohio State football vs Michigan prediction for 'The Game'

Ohio State 30, Michigan 17: Ohio State's defense — led by potential No. 1 overall NFL draft pick Arvell Reese of Cleveland — hasn't allowed a team to score 17 points this season. That kind of domination and the pinpoint accuracy of quarterback Julian Sayin should give the Buckeyes the edge this year. – Dan Kadar
