On Saturday, Oklahoma will have its hands full as it faces No. 2 Georgia. Unfortunately, in the lead-up to the game, they received word that one of their top defenders, David Stone, was injured.
Stone had injured his knee during a practice on Monday.
However, on Tuesday, Oklahoma head coach Brent Venablesgave mixed results on Stone’s progress, per Pete Nakos of On3Sports.com. He said Stone’s X-rays came back positive, but it remains unknown whether he will play on Saturday.

Additionally, Venables said that the results were not only “positive,” but that “his pain is about a two out of 10 right now,” per Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.
Stone has been a catalyst for the Sooners’ defense. As a sophmore last year, he had a breakout season. He finished the year 7th on the team in defensive tackles with 42. Plus, he added 8.0 tackles for loss.
Ultimately, Stone was nominated for the 2026 Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award. He leads the charge out of the tunnel before the game, holding the American flag. Plus, Stone wears No. 0 to establish a lasting legacy in the program.
Stone is a native Oklahoman who attended IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
In 2023, Stone committed to Oklahoma after receiving offers from both Miami and Michigan State.
Oklahoma is off to a 2-1 start to the season. They won their season opener against UTEP 51-0. Then they fell to No. 18 Michigan, 17-10. Last weekend, the Sooners defeated New Mexico 14-6.
The Sooners face the Bulldogs at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia, at 2:30 pm CST/3:30 pm EST.
