With the first College Football Playoff rankings set to be released Tuesday night, there's a strange amount of clarity at this point of the season in expectations of which teams will likely make the postseason and which won't.
USA TODAY's Paul Myerberg's weekly re-rank of all 136 teams in FBS showed as much. Only three teams in strong consideration for the playoffs dropped in his ranking after Saturday's game, while two – arguably the most important two in these parts – jumped up.
Oklahoma and Texas lifted nine spots and 15 spots, respectively, to No. 11 for the Sooners and No. 15 for Longhorns in Myerberg's ranking. Only two schools inside his top 25 went up as high: Utah rose 11 spots to No. 14 and Pittsburgh went up nine spots to No. 25.
The Southeastern Conference was, unsurprisingly, dominant in re-rank, holding down four of the top seven spots with Texas A&M, Alabama and Georgia No. 3 through No. 5, in that order and Ole Miss checking in at No. 7. Oklahoma and Texas came next with Vanderbilt 16th, Misouri 19th and Tennessee 24th. Arkansas is lowest ranked team in the SEC at No. 83.
A small shake-up could be in order after Week 11, though only two games feature ranked opponents playing against each other. In the Big 12, No. 8 Brigham Young travels to No. 9 Texas Tech and in the SEC, A&M will go to Columbia to face Missouri.
The Sooners will get a shot at climbing higher in all major polls, plus the CFP rankings, after they play the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa on Nov. 15.
