Oklahoma has, in the Brent Venables Era, seemingly always needing offensive lineman. They received a green, but potentially great one on Saturday.
Former Georgia Tech lineman Peyton Joseph committed to the Sooners on the transfer portal that day, helping shore up a unit that could use some depth in Norman.
Joseph is the third offensive lineman to join Oklahoma via the portal this offseason, joining former Arkansas big man E'Marion Harris and ex-Western Kentucky center Caleb Nitta. Both of those players are expected to be in line for starting gigs on the Sooners' front line while Joseph, with three years of eligibility remaining, could compete for a starting gig, but seems more like a second-teamer when fall rolls around.
Joseph was a four-star recruit out of high school in Georgia where he was ranked as the No. 11 interior lineman in his class, according to 247Sports. He played in six games for the Yellow Jackets, but only one on offense, when he played four snaps against FCS Gardner-Webb.
The addition of the ex-Tech player provides with the Sooners 15 players on its projected unit as of Jan. 10. Oklahoma will return 10 players from the 2025 season while adding two freshmen and three transfers.
