The Oklahoma Sooners have the No. 1 class in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and they intend to keep it.
The Oklahoma Sooners have been the best recruiting team in the country for the last year or so. To end the 2026 cycle, they were on fire. They carried that over to the 2027 cycle by having the best class.
And sometimes, it’s not always about getting the biggest names in recruiting. It’s not always about getting the highest-ranked players. It’s about getting players who fit what you need, and whose personalities fit, too. The Sooners do things the old school way, building relationships, then use their NIL because that’s just what this era is now. They win with elite visits that make players feel at home. On Sunday, the Sooners landed three-star WR Malahn Green, a player who fits their needs, during an official visit.
And they may not be done, according to one player who is already committed, but was on a visit with five other uncommitted players this weekend.
“This might not be the last one this weekend,” Sooners’ committed safety Jaylen Scott tweeted Sunday morning after Green committed.
Sooners could land a commitment from four players including Green
There were 15 recruits on campus for the 2027 recruiting class. 10 were already committed. Five were uncommitted, in Green, along with Linebacker Case Alexander, cornerbacks Trenton Blaylock and Jaiden Fields, and interior offensive lineman Jaxon Lawler.
Case Alexander is an in-state kid with family who previously played at Oklahoma. However, his brother is currently at Penn State. That’s his final two schools. Lawler recently said he always made a promise to himself that he would play at OU, so that could easily be the next one OU gets.
Blaylock’s brother, OU RB Tory Blaylock, could make him commit. But Blaylock is also very interested in Vanderbilt. Fields doesn’t seem ready to commit to OU, or anywhere else, anytime soon. Fans should certainly be on the lookout.
