The Oklahoma Sooners got an elite athlete in their 2027 recruiting class, and he can play so many different positions.

The Oklahoma Sooners have an insane athlete in their 2027 recruiting class. Broken Bow quarterback Greydon Howell is committed to OU, but as a wide receiver. He plays any position you could think of. Now, he's broken a new state record in track.

"Ended the Track Season with 2 new PR's. I now have the Oklahoma 4A 400 state track meet record. 400: 47.19 and 200: 21.34," Howell wrote on Twitter.

Howell has elite speed that you cannot teach. Ben Arbuckle and the coaching staff have to be licking their chops right now, thinking about all of the ways they can use Howell. But when you watch his tape, that elite speed shows up, but it's harder to see exactly what he could be and how he can use it because of how he plays.

Greydon Howell is a very versatile athlete

Because of his athletic versatility, the Sooners really see something in Howell as a receiver, and he is aware that's the position they want him for-not quarterback.

"I'd be a slot receiver, and I'd basically be like [Isaiah] Sategna," Howell told OU Insider. "[WR coach Emmett Jones] told me I had a full ride. We really liked how he didn't push to commit to OU. He was really neutral about everything, just telling me the plan of what they want to do with me and the life of being up there."

Howell has played quarterback, safety, wide receiver, and running back, and he's very good at all of them. Howell had 2,717 air yards and 27 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2025. He also added 1,514 yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground.

His monster numbers at Broken Bow High have earned major offers from Auburn and Penn State. However, Oklahoma was able to land him over those schools, even though they didn't pitch his actual position.
