The Oklahoma Sooners made their latest transfer portal addition on Sunday afternoon, adding a player who has familiarity with their offensive coordinator and their presumed starting quarterback.

Former Washington State wide receiver Mackenzie Alleyne has committed to play for Oklahoma out of the transfer portal. Alleyne was a redshirt freshman for the Cougars in 2025, after arriving in Pullman as part of Wazzu’s 2024 recruiting class.

Alleyne redshirted in 2024, which was the final season for Oklahoma offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Ben Arbuckle and presumed OU starting quarterback John Mateer with the Cougs. With both in Norman in 2025, Alleyne caught four passes for 72 yards and a touchdown and played in all 13 games for WSU.

Alleyne stands at 6-foot-1 and weighs in at 185 pounds, hailing from Tustin High School in California. He’ll being depth and youth to a wide receiver room in Norman that needs both of those things. He’s a former walk-on who managed to stick on the Washington State roster, and now gets to move up to the SEC level.

After seeing an exodus of receivers out the door via the portal for the second time in as many years, OU has now added three wideouts in this portal window. Alleyne joins Virginia transfer Trell Harris and Texas transfer Parker Livingstone as portal newcomers to the Oklahoma WR room this year.

Alleyne also has some experience in Arbuckle’s offense, and with Mateer at the QB spot. It’s uncertain whether Mateer will decide to come back to school or go pro, but if he returns to OU, he’ll likely be under center for the second straight year for the Sooners.
