The Oklahoma Sooners will head out on the road to challenge the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. ET at Michigan Stadium. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Oklahoma is headed out to face Michigan after opening its season at home and giving the fans just what they were looking for. The Sooners really took it to the UTEP Miners for the full four quarters, racking up a 51-0 victory. The Sooners had no problem finishing drives, scoring on all five of their trips to the red zone.

Quarterback John Mateer was the offensive standout of the contest as he threw for 225 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. The three passing touchdowns tied his high from Aug. 30 last year vs. Illinois State. The team also gained some help from running back Lloyd Avant, who rushed for 79 yards and one TD.

Oklahoma trampled UTEP’s defense to the tune of 401 total yards. The Sooners have not posted that many total yards since they put up 408 yards against Michigan on Sept. 6, 2025.

Meanwhile, Michigan won a game that couldn’t have been any closer, slipping by the Western Michigan Broncos 13-12. The overall outcome was as expected, but the Broncos made it much more of a matchup than the oddsmakers had predicted.

Quarterback Bryce Underwood and receiver JJ Buchanan were among the main playmakers for Michigan as the former rushed for 47 yards and one score and the latter picked up 126 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Both teams are now 1-0, with Michigan having gone 1-1 since its five-game winning streak ended last season.

Oklahoma was able to grind out a solid victory over Michigan in their most recent meeting back in Week 2 last season, winning 24-13. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Wolverines’ running back Justice Haynes, who rushed for 125 yards and one TD. Now that he is no longer at Michigan, will it be easier for the Sooners to walk away with another win? There’s only one way to find out.
