The transfer portal will officially open on Friday, January 2 but the Oklahoma Sooners have already learned of several players that intend to enter the portal. The latest decision comes from cornerback Devon Jordan, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.
Jordan, a former four-star prospect in the 247Sports composite rankings, was considered the No. 4 player in the state of Oklahoma in the 2024 recruiting class. After playing just 42 snaps on defense as a true freshman in 2024, Jordan became a significant part of the Sooners‘ cornerback rotation in their College Football Playoff run, playing 232 snaps for Brent Venables’ defense.
This season, he recorded 16 total tackles, two tackles for loss, and had a huge sack on Ty Simpson in the Sooners’ win over Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
The Sooners were able to preserve Jordan’s redshirt in 2024, so he’ll have three more years of eligibility. He was a solid part of the Oklahoma Sooners’ cornerback rotation, but with incumbent starters Eli Bowen and Courtland Guillory returning to Oklahoma for the 2026 season, Jordan would likely have remained a rotational player.
In addition to Bowen and Guillory, Oklahoma still has Gentry Williams, Jacobe Johnson, Maliek Hawkins, Jeremiah Newcombe, Trystan Haynes, and will bring in four-star cornerback Derrick Johnson II in the 2026 signing class.
