The Oklahoma Sooners have been on a tear in the 2027 recruiting cycle and received more positive news over the weekend. As the Sooners earned their 10th win of the season with a 17-13 victory over LSU, Oklahoma received a a pair of commitments.
On Saturday night, as the dust settled on another dominant defensive performance, Oklahoma earned a commitment from four-star defensive end Krew Jones out of Utah. Jones is the No. 156 player in the cycle, according to 247Sports, and ranks as the No. 18 edge player in the class.
He's one of five blue-chip prospects committed to Oklahoma at this time and is the first defensive lineman pledged to the Sooners in the cycle. At 6-foot-4 and 233 pounds, he already has a great frame to work with and has the strength and athleticism to be a force on the edge of Brent Venables' defense.
He held offers from key programs like Michigan, Texas, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Utah, BYU, Ohio State, Oregon, and USC.
The other commitment the Sooners earned over the weekend was from unrated wide receiver prospect Tra'von Hall out of Alabama. Hall pledged to the Sooners on Sunday night. Hall has good size at 6-foot, 180 pounds, and had a growing list of suitors this fall. Oklahoma offered at the beginning of October. Since the summer, he'd received offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Colorado to go along with a number of Group of Five offers he already had to his ledger.
Hall is a weapon. He can create plays out of the backfield as a running back and can win in every area of the passing game. He displays fantastic agility and play speed. He can make defenders miss in the open field, has great contact balance, and he has the speed to run away from the defense and create big plays.
The Sooners now have nine players committed in the 2027 recruiting cycle and currently have 247Sports' top-ranked recruiting class. The momentum started before the season with a pledge from offensive tackle Luke Wilson. And they built upon it after wins over Michigan and Auburn with commitments from five-star offensive linemen Kaeden Perry and Cooper Hackett, as well as a four-star wide receiver pledge from Demare Dezeurn.
There's a belief in what Brent Venables and his staff is building and the Oklahoma Sooners have backed it up with results on the field in 2025.
