The Oklahoma Sooners bounced back in their season in the SEC. Going 10-3, Brent Venables led his squad to a College Football Playoff contender. While they fell to the Alabama Crimson Tide at home in the first round, it’s a big step up after going just 6-7 in 2024.
To remain playoff contenders, Venables and his staff have continued to push on the recruiting trail. They’ve been extremely successful when it comes to the 2027 cycle. Oklahoma has brought in 20 commitments, with the group ranking first in the nation.
On Tuesday, the team made their latest addition. Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett reported that the Sooners have landed a commitment from interior offensive lineman Isaac Coughran.

It’s an exciting addition for Oklahoma. Coughran, a Katy, Texas native, is a three-star recruit, the no. 91 interior offensive lineman and the No. 1070 player in the nation, according to Rivals Industry Rankings.
They weren’t the only team looking to capture his commitment, either. The pass protector has also received offers from teams such as the Houston Cougars, Baylor Bears, Arizona Wildcats and Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
The Sooners are among a small handful of teams that have hosted him for a visit, though. He made his way to Norman for an unofficial visit on March 7 and is scheduled to go back for an official visit on May 29.
At 6-foot-4 and 295 pounds, he is the fifth offensive lineman Oklahoma has landed in the 2027 recruiting class. Coughran joins five-star OT Cooper Hackett, four-star OT Kaeden Penny, three-star OT Luke Wilson and three-star IOL Tyson Ross.
