The Oklahoma Sooners have been on a roll as of late, but this week, they had a few dings hit them along the way.

The Sooners have visits lined up for several recruits this upcoming weekend. They are not done with this class yet, as they are adding the finishing touches. They could get a boost to that this upcoming weekend. And especially now that their workload could be a bit lighter.

The Sooners have a big recruiting weekend lined up for Thursday and Friday. First, it’s three-star athlete Jaiden Fields on Thursday. Then, on Friday, they have visits lined up with 12 players, three of whom have not yet committed. However, some of those just committed to other teams this week, so there is a chance that maybe those players won’t go on visits?

Sooners lost out on Yahzeen Zion and Gideon Gash

Yahzeen Zion, the No. 9 player in Arizona, has the ideal size for the defensive line that Venables likes. He’s 6’4, 270, and has great arm length. The Sooners would have been able to use him. Now, Wisconsin will use him, that is, if he stays committed to Wisconsin. Zion is also the No. 9 edge rusher in the country and a top-350 player. Oklahoma came in second, then LSU, Texas A&M, and Georgia, according to Rivals.

Then there is Gideon Gash. He’s a 6’4, 204-pound athlete and the No. 4 athlete in the class. Gash is the No. 2 player in Michigan and the No. 73 player in the country. Gash ended up committing to Texas Tech. He visited them only twice, along with OU twice, while he visited Michigan State four times and Alabama three times. The Sooners have lost two receivers in this 2027 recruiting class, and Gash plays receiver. So, this would have been a great get at the perfect time.

There are three that are not committed anywhere that will be on visits this weekend, too. Of course, Fields, whom we mentioned already. He seems to be down to SMU and Texas A&M. However, the three-star athlete could be swayed. Then there is Trenton Blaylock, the brother of RB Tory Blaylock, who’s down to Vanderbilt and OU. Then, there is Case Alexander, down to Penn State and OU. Hopefully, these visits work in the Sooners’ favor.
