Oklahoma State football to add Nick Edwards as WR coach, per report

STILLWATER — For the first time so far, Oklahoma State coach Eric Morris appears set to hire an assistant coach who wasn’t on his North Texas staff.
Wake Forest receivers coach Nick Edwards is in line to take the same position for the Cowboys, according to a report from CBS Sports on Wednesday night.
Edwards has spent the last three seasons on the staff of Jake Dickert, with two years at Washington State prior to this season at Wake Forest. Morris also spent a season on Dickert's staff at Washington State in 2022, the year before Edwards arrived.
Before that, Edwards had stops with the Atlanta Falcons, Cal and his alma mater, Eastern Washington, where he played receiver from 2009-12 and won an FCS national championship in 2010.
Morris had to go outside his staff for a receivers coach because Jordan Davis, who served as Morris’ offensive coordinator and receivers coach, was hired Tuesday by East Carolina. That move became intriguing to Davis for the opportunity to be a play-caller, rather than remaining with Morris, who calls the plays in his offense.
Morris still must identify who will hold the title of offensive coordinator, though that could be a potential promotion for his quarterbacks coach, Sean Brophy, who is likely to join the OSU staff.
Brophy, who played quarterback for Morris at Incarnate Word, held the title of passing game coordinator at North Texas.
Speculation has swirled around another North Texas offensive assistant, running backs coach and UNT Hall of Famer Patrick Cobbs, as a potential holdover for new coach Neal Brown.
