Ole Miss blows out Charlotte, turns page to LSU

As expected the Ole Miss Rebels won in a blowout over Charlotte on Saturday in Oxford, 41-9.

Ole Miss (2-0) had 420 total yards of offense and scored on five of its first six drives to build a 27-0 lead at halftime. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss went 23/26 passing for 225 yards and two touchdowns while running back Kewan Lacy had 13 carries for 87 yards and two touchdowns. Lacy now has scored a touchdown in 11 straight games, which is the longest such streak since 1956 at Ole Miss.

There’s absolutely plenty of fans however with concerns about the secondary, and coach Pete Golding said in the postgame, he has to find five guys who can protect against opposing pass offense. The plan from week one to week two was to fix the cracks in the pass defense and limit explosive plays, but it could be there is no fixing that problem.

The tackling overall was much more sound with only 10 missed tackles vs. Charlotte compared to 25 against Louisville. There was also a TON of guys who got time on the field yesterday as 27 players registered a tackle in the game.

Back-up QB Deuce Knight also showed his talent in an electrifying touchdown run hurdling over a defender, but his interception took a little shine off his debut in red and blue.

Next up is probably the most anticipated game in the country with Ole Miss hosting LSU. It is going to be a madhouse in Oxford the next week leading up to kickoff, which is set for 6 p.m. on Saturday. College Gameday. Former head coach. Oxford will be the biggest city in the state for one day.
