If anyone wondered how Pete Golding and No. 9 Ole Miss (4-1, 2-1 SEC) would respond from its loss to Florida, the answer was a resounding beat down of Vanderbilt in Nashville on Saturday, 52-17.

This game had everything. A big man touchdown, a defensive touchdown, a Heisman contender showing off his skills, and fans in the surrender cobra stance by halftime.

The Rebels scored three touchdowns in the final four minutes of the first half to be up 42-3 at the break. This came courtesy of two Vanderbilt turnovers, a scoop and score touchdown by Suntarine Perkins and then a fumble on a kickoff recovered inside the ten yard line.

One of the most memorable moments however came from defensive lineman Jamarious Brown who caught a goal line touchdown and hit the sexy Dexy celebration alongside fellow DL Will Echoles. In previous seasons, these two big men have paved the way in goal line formations to several touchdowns, so it was fitting to see them have their moment. Not to mention, the athleticism and footwork from Brown at his size was something to see.

Trinidad Chambliss scored four touchdowns (3 passing, 1 rushing) going 20/30 passing for 213 yards. He completed passes to nine different Rebels in the game with Deuce Alexander leading the way with 74 yards and a touchdown.

It was also a huge relief to see Kewan Lacy back on the field after a shoulder injury sidelined the star running back versus LSU. After two weeks off, he knocked off the rust in the first half rushing seven times for 39 yards and a touchdown. Back-up RB Makhi Frazier stepped up from there rushing for 73 yards on 13 carries.

Fans even got to see highly touted prospect Shekai Mills-Knight who scored on a 35-yard run to cap the Rebels’ scoring in the fourth quarter.

Ole Miss now has to set its sights on top 15 opponent Missouri who will be in Oxford this Saturday for a massive conference game. For now, the coffee tastes pretty damn good on a Sunday morning after a win.
