Ole Miss football landed the No. 2 recruit in Mississippi for the 2027 recruiting class.

Ben’Jarvius Shumaker, a defensive lineman from Choctaw County, committed to the Rebels and coach Pete Golding on March 6.

The four-star is also ranked No. 62 nationally and as the No. 5 defensive lineman by the 247Sports Composite.

Shumaker announced his commitment with a post on X.

“First, I want to thank God, my family, and my coaches for believing in me and supporting me through this journey,” he wrote in the X post. “With that being said, Iโ€™m blessed to announce that I have committed to Ole Miss.”

Shumaker’s offers include Mississippi State, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Miami and Colorado.

He is the fourth commitment to Ole Miss’ 2027 class and overtook four-star quarterback Keegan Croucher for the No. 1 spot. Also in Ole Miss’ class are four-star defensive lineman Jamarkus Pittman and three-star linebacker Jiyez Fleming.

The class is ranked No. 20 nationally.

Shumaker recorded 113 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries in 2025 for Choctaw County.

Jackson Academy offensive tackle Caden Moss is the highest ranked player in Mississippi and is currently uncommitted.
