On Saturday, the Ole Miss football program picked up a huge win at home over the LSU Tigers in what was Lane Kiffin’s return to Oxford. Ole Miss squandered a big lead in this one but ended up holding on for the win thanks to a late touchdown from quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and a stop on the ensuing defensive possession.
On Sunday, the new AP Top 25 rankings came out, and Ole Miss shot all the way up to number four in the nation, but some feel they should have made it even higher.
“Ole Miss should be ranked Top 3. There isn’t a team in the sport with 2 better wins (over LSU and Louisville),” opined college football insider Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports on X, formerly Twitter.

Ahead of Ole Miss were the Texas Longhorns, Georgia Bulldogs, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish, each of whom is also undefeated so far this season.
Meanwhile, LSU dropped slightly to number ten as a result of the loss.
Fans in the comment section seemed to agree with Fawcett’s take.
“Notre Dame should be outside top 15 haven’t looked good at all against weak teams,” wrote one fan.
“Should be 1,” wrote another.
Of course, rankings aren’t exactly of paramount importance at this point of the year, and the real rankings that will matter in December are the college football playoff rankings, which won’t be released for the first time for several more weeks.
Ole Miss will next hit the field on Saturday for a tough road game against the Florida Gators.
