Ole Miss has given head coach Lane Kiffin a deadline.
The Rebels want an answer from their head coach on his future at the program. Kiffin, who has led Ole Miss to a 10-1 season this fall, has been linked to the LSU and Florida head coaching vacancies. According to a report from NOLA.com on Monday, Kiffin’s family recently took a private plane to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to tour the city. Over the weekend, Kiffin’s Rebels topped Florida, 34-24.
Kiffin somewhat addressed the coaching rumors following the game, saying that he finds them disrespectful to his players.
“I love what we’re doing here,” Kiffin said postgame. “Today was awesome. And I don’t talk about that stuff and really to even talk about it right now would be so disrespectful to our players and how well they played today. So, you know, we’ve got a lot of things going here, doing really well. And I love it here.”
As rumors continue to swirl regarding Kiffin’s future at Ole Miss, the Rebels’ administration is desperate for an answer.
According to a report from The Athletic on Monday, Ole Miss has given Kiffin a date in which he needs to make a decision on his future.

Ole Miss wants Kiffin to decide on his future before the No. 28 Egg Bowl against Mississippi State.
“Ole Miss has given Lane Kiffin an ultimatum to decide his future before the Nov. 28 Egg Bowl against Mississippi State, a person briefed on the discussions told The Athletic,” the report states.
“Kiffin, whose 10-1 team is off this week, is considered a candidate for open jobs at both Florida and LSU. LSU sent a private plane for Kiffin’s family to visit Baton Rouge on Monday, The Advocate reported. They took a similar trip to Gainesville the day before, according to On3.”
The question, of course, is what will Ole Miss do if Kiffin just says: I’m not deciding by then. Would they fire him? Of course not.
It’s understandable that Ole Miss wants an answer, but at the end of the day, Kiffin holds all of the leverage here.
