Ole Miss is doubtful about Sam Leavitt 'doubtful' tag, per report

According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, nobody on Ole Miss' football staff is buying that LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt is actually "doubtful" for Saturday's game in Oxford.

Leavitt's inclusion on Wednesday's injury report came as a shock, the doubtful claim even more of a jaw-dropper. CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz reported that Leavitt didn't throw at practice on Wednesday with an upper-body issue, which is apparantly why Leavitt got the designation. On3's Pete Nakos called his injury a "sore throwing shoulder."

Why the skepticism? Could Lane Kiffin and LSU be trying some funny business with Leavitt's status? We suppose it's possible, but the SEC does have rules and consequences for inaccurate injury reporting. However, how could you prove ill intent there?

We're sure that Kiffin's standing as LSU's head coach has everyone a bit skeptical of this, even if Leavitt is actually not feeling great in his throwing shoulder. We'll see how things shake out on Saturday.

Who would start for Leavitt if he really didn't play?

The team has two capable backups it can choose from on Saturday.
