Ole Miss, Pete Golding trending to land multiple transfer portal targets

Pete Golding Ole Miss transfer portal

Pete Golding won two College Football Playoff games in Ole Miss’ first CFP appearance, nearly knocking off Miami for a spot in the national title game. He’s now looking to reload and have the Rebels back in the postseason in 2026, trending to land multiple players out of the transfer portal.

The Rebels are squarely in the mix to land Syracuse transfer wide receiver Darrell Gill Jr. Ole Miss has been battling Washington for one of the top remaining wideouts in the transfer portal. Sources have told On3 that Golding and the Rebels have the momentum, despite Gill receiving interest from Ohio State and Oregon over the last 24 hours.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound wide receiver has 70 career catches for 1,136 yards and eight touchdowns. Gill tallied 506 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 2025.

Ole Miss is also looking to add another piece to its quarterback room. With Trinidad Chambliss’ status for the 2026 season uncertain with his ongoing eligibility battle, Ole Miss has already signed Auburn transfer Deuce Knight. Sources have told On3 that Louisiana transfer Walker Howard is in play to re-join the Rebels, too.

A former LSU and Ole Miss transfer, Howard spent two seasons with the Rebels before entering the portal following the 2024 season and transferring to Louisiana. He tore his oblique in the season opener and was never able to fully reclaim the starting job. He’s a former four-star recruit who is trending to land back in Oxford. Howard entered the portal on Tuesday with a do-not-contact tag.
