Pete Golding and Mississippi appear to have received positive news on star running back Kewan Lacy.
According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Lacy is not expected to miss significant time after suffering a shoulder injury in the Rebels' 32-24 victory over LSU on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. However, Thamel reported that Lacy's status for Ole Miss' first SEC road game against Florida remains uncertain.
Lacy exited the game in the third quarter and headed to the locker room for further evaluation. The preseason All-SEC First Team running back did not return, forcing the Rebels to finish the game without one of their top offensive weapons.
Lacy scored a 5-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter of Saturday's win over LSU, which handed Ole Miss its second top-10-ranked win under Golding. The victory also pushed the Rebels' record at home to 24-1 since 2023.
The Rebels, who moved up to No. 6 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll, head on the road to face Florida at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 26. It's the start of a two-game road trip, which is coupled with a bye week in Week 5, for Ole Miss.

Kewan Lacy injury
Lacy sustained a left shoulder injury in Ole Miss' Week 3 victory over LSU. He exited the game in the third quarter and headed to the Rebels' locker room for further evaluation.
The 5-foot-11 running back did not return because of the injury. Rebels' sophomore running back JT Lindsey took over in his absence and handled the remainder of the workload in Ole Miss' backfield.
Thamel reported on Sept. 20 that Lacy underwent an MRI on Sunday and that his status for Ole Miss' Week 4 trip to Florida remains uncertain.

"He banged up his shoulder," Golding said after Ole Miss' win over LSU. "They went in and X-rayed it. It was negative on the X-ray. They padded him up. He was going to try to fight through it, but at that point JT (Lindsey) was playing really well. … I know we'll get some more information tomorrow."
