OXFORD — After some drama, Ole Miss football defensive end Princewill Umanmielen is in the transfer portal.
Umanmielen has officially entered the transfer portal, according to a report on Jan. 21 from 247Sports’ Chase Parham. The report said that whatever school Umanmielen goes to will owe Ole Miss approximately $550,000 in buyout compensation.
That is the case because Ole Miss initially announced Umanmielen had signed to stay for 2026. On Jan 6, Umanmielen posted a graphic Ole Miss put out that indicated he would return to Oxford.
Reports broke Jan. 15 that he would enter after all.
Umanmielen will be a high-profile target in the transfer portal, especially for teams stocking up at the last moment. He is entering his senior season, and he led Ole Miss with nine sacks in 2025.
The transfer portal closed, but delays between players declaring intent and paperwork getting processed allow for movement after the deadline.
