Ole Miss-Tulane College Football Playoff Game Faces Backlash From Fans

The first two games of this year’s College Football Playoff both delivered in a big way.
The No. 9-seed Alabama Crimson Tide erased a 17-point deficit against the No. 8-seed Oklahoma Sooners in Norman to win 34-24 Friday evening. In the first of three games on Saturday, the No. 10-seed Miami Hurricanes survived a rock fight on the road against the No. 7-seed Texas A&M Aggies, winning in College Station 10-3.
However, the third game of the first round between the No. 6-seed Ole Miss Rebels and No. 11-seed Tulane Green Wave certainly did not keep the streak of great games alive. With 10:45 remaining in the game, Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss rushed for an 8-yard touchdown to make it 41-3.
As expected, many fans across social media were not thrilled, as this year’s field featured controversially featured Group of Five programs Tulane and James Madison. While some fans are happy these programs get a chance to contend for a title, many online feel they took a spot from a worthy team such as Notre Dame, Texas or BYU.

“It sucks that we had no way of knowing that Ole Miss and Tulane don’t belong on the same field Oh wait,” wrote another fan.
“Don’t be mad at the committee for putting in Alabama & Miami. Be mad at them for putting in Tulane & James Madison,” said another.
“Why did they let Tulane in,” questioned a fourth.
“Tulane played football today in the sense that they put on uniforms and went onto a football field today. This game was an atrocity,” commented another.
The No. 12-seed Dukes will look to prove all of the doubters wrong Saturday evening in Eugene, as they have the tall task of playing the No. 5-seed Oregon Ducks. It’s hard to imagine things will go that much better, but you never know.
With their 41-10 win over Tulane, Ole Miss will play the No. 3-seed Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1.
