Game Overview

The 2026 College Football Playoff continues on Wednesday.

The Sugar Bowl returns to the annual tournament for the sixth time, with Ole Miss and Georgia each looking to move on and join playoff winners Ohio State (2015 and 2021), Alabama (2018) Washington (2024) and Notre Dame (2025).

Archie Manning (1970), Dan Marino (1982), Bo Jackson (1984), Jerome Bettis (1990), Tim Tebow (2010), Ezekiel Elliott (2015) and Baker Mayfield (2017) are just a few of the notable names who have taken home the game’s MVP.

The Rebels and Bulldogs will look to add someone to that list on Thursday.

Team Overviews

No. 6 Ole Miss Rebels
Conference:SEC
Head Coach:Pete Golding
Record:12–1

Ole Miss might be without its head coach, but that doesn’t mean it has taken a step back.

The Rebels took care of business in their first round matchup with the Tulane Green Wave, setting them on a collision course for a rematch with the Georgia Bulldogs.

Pete Golding, who has taken over the reins, will look to keep things moving in the right direction for another week.

No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs
Conference:SEC
Head Coach:Kirby Smart
Record:12-1

Georgia is the one true dark horse in this tournament, having avenged its only loss to Alabama while also securing impressive victories over Tennessee, Texas and Georgia Tech.

The Bulldogs have taken a step back on both sides of the ball, but any team would after boasting the ridiculous talent they had from 2021-2023.

Kirby Smart has his team playing its best football during the right time.
