On3's Pete Nakos Give Buckeyes Freshman Star Major Praise Prior to Training Camp

On3's Pete Nakos is the authority when it comes to college football. He is the inside source for every situation, and he has the pulse on every single move in the sport.

On Monday, he released his list of true freshmen across college football who could make their first impression in just a few short weeks in week one. At the top of his list is the Buckeyes' freshman Chris Henry Jr.

Henry Jr. comes to Ohio State with potential that is sky-high as he is the son of late NFL great Chris Henry, who showed a ton of promise but just couldn't get out of his own way at times.

Regardless, Henry Jr. has it all in terms of being a wide receiver. He stands at 6'5" with elite speed for his young age. He has great hands and has so much room to continue to grow into his body.

The first reason that Henry Jr. has a chance to start in Week One is that he possesses all of the talent necessary to be a really good college player. The second reason is that the Buckeyes' wide receiver room behind Jeremiah Smith is a major question mark.

Smith is going to be considered the best player in college football next season without much of an argument. He has dominated everyone in his first two years as a Buckeye and should be able to continue on that trajectory this year. 

Behind him are five unknown players fighting for three spots. Brandon Inniss is the incumbent who has the inside track to be WR2, while transfers Devin McCuin and Kyle Parker are going to give him a run for his money.

Then, the two freshman that have a legitimate chance are Henry Jr. and Brock Boyd. 

There are not many players who earn the right to get the start in Scarlet and Gray in their very first week on the job, especially as a wide receiver.

However, if Henry Jr. is what many expect him to be, he could be the next guy to do it.

The truth about Henry Jr. is that he is the heir to the throne in the Buckeyes' wide receiver room. For the last decade, there has been an up-and-coming star who takes over for the guy who just went before him. 

If all goes right, Henry will be that for Jeremiah Smith. If he does enough during Training Camp, he will even get his career off on the same start as Smith and start for the Buckeyes right away in Week No. 1.
