From the Bayou to the shores of Lake Washington, freshman wide receiver Trez Davis has made the cross-country transition a breeze.

After the fourth practice of spring football practices on Tuesday, which saw the 6-foot, 190-pound West Monroe, Louisiana native continue to build an early rapport with starting quarterback Demond Williams Jr. and get a mixture of first and second-team reps during the first week of camp,

"Trez has been awesome," UW wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings said, as secondary coach John Richardson shouted 'best wide receivers coach in the country' as he walked into the tunnel. "Trez has done a heck of a job learning the plays and applying them on the field. So, he's the one that I would say is the furthest along so far."

Davis flipped his pledge from Tulane to Washington on early signing day last December, a necessary addition for Cummings and head coach Jedd Fisch as the Huskies brought in three four-star freshmen at receiver to offset the loss of starter Denzel Boston to the NFL draft and the transfer portal departures of Raiden Vines-Bright and Audric Harris.

Davis emerged as one of the most productive players in Louisiana the past two years, boasting 91 catches, 1,869 receiving yards, and 17 touchdown receptions in 22 combined games as a junior and senior at West Monroe High School to help lead the Rebels to an 8-4 record as a senior.

Whether it's outside the numbers or between the hash marks, Davis has carried his ability to get open from high school to Montlake, which should have the Bayou State native in the mix this coming fall as one of Williams Jr.'s go-to options.

The son of former Louisiana Tech three-year letterman Tramissian Davis, Trez plays a similar brand of receiver that his father did, with the ability to make an impact on all three levels, especially when it comes to yards after catch — something that makes the younger Davis a perfect fit in Fisch's offense.

"He's another one," Fisch said. "He's going to start at Z for us. He's going to be on the outside to the tight end side, right now, as his first spot. But we also believe he could play some slot. So, he has two-position value in our system to be able to play outside and inside. He'll be in that same rotation with Chris (Lawson) and Rashid (Williams)."

With a multitude of receiver options, both young and old, Davis won't have an opportunity handed to him. However, much like his ability to find the open spot on the field for any of the Huskies' quarterbacks to find him, the Louisiana product will earn the right to burn his redshirt if he continues to build on his early success in spring camp.
