The stage is now set: the No. 5 Oregon Ducks will take on the No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers on Friday, Jan. 9 in the College Football Playoff Semifinals in Atlanta.

When the CFP bracket came out, this was one of the potential matchups that caught the eyes of college football analysts and fans alike, as the two teams met in Week 7 at Autzen Stadium. That matchup, in which ESPN's College Gameday made an appearance for, turned out to be the lone blemish on the Ducks' resume, as the then-No. 7 Hoosiers stormed into Eugene and came away with a 30-20 victory over No. 3 Oregon, establishing themselves as a true national title contender.

The defeat turned out to be as respectable of a loss as they come for the Ducks, as the Hoosiers went on to go undefeated in the regular-season, defeat the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes in the Big Ten title game and claim a bye in the CFP.

Indiana then dismantled the No. 9 Alabama Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl and CFP quarterfinals right after Oregon did the same against the No. 4 Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Peach Bowl, coming away with a 23-0 victory in Miami on Thursday afternoon.

Now, in just over a week, the two teams will do battle for the second time during the 2025-26 season, with the Ducks looking for revenge and a berth in the national title game.
