The College Football Playoff saw the Oregon Ducks become the latest team to advance, shutting out the Texas Tech Raiders 23-0 in the Orange Bowl Thursday.
With how easily the Ducks took care of business, it further validates the Big Ten's further dominance across college football, which Lanning preached before the Ducks backed it up.
“I think the record itself just speaks for the conference, the quality of players and coaches and teams in this conference,” Lanning said. “I definitely think the Big Ten is the best conference in college football. The last two national championships have indicated that as well."
Lanning said he wants to see the Big Ten play well, which is now down to the Ducks and Hoosiers (should they beat the Alabama Crimson Tidein the Rose Bowl)
“It’s a good opportunity," Lanning said. There’s some good Big Ten teams still playing football right now, so I hope they show out.”
By next weekend, we'll find out where the Big Ten truly sits but it could certainly be good news if the Hoosiers do eliminate the Crimson Tide.
Only time will tell, though.
