The year 2028 may seem like a long ways away, but Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning is already looking for his next great quarterback. He’s identified four-star passer Jayden Wade, as Lanning extended an offer to the young quarterback in January of 2024. Wade was just 14-years-old at that time.
Fast forward nearly two years later and Wade is nearing his commitment date, per Rivals. He’ll announce his verbal commitment on November 16, with seven schools in the running. Oregon is on the list alongside Michigan, Georgia, Texas, Florida, Ohio State and Washington.
Asked about what’s most important as far as choosing a program, he said “The main thing in my recruiting is development,” he told Rivals’ Chad Simmons in September. “I want the culture and relationships too, but it’s mainly about making me better and getting me ready for the NFL.”

Standing 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, Wade is the top-ranked quarterback in the 2028 class, per 247 Sports. He is also the top-ranked player, a very prestigious honor albeit early in the scouting process.
Hailing from IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL, Wade has thrown for over 1,200 yards and 17 touchdowns versus just two interceptions thus far in his first full season as the starter.
The Ducks currently don’t have any commitments in the 2028 recruiting class — but they’re in the running to make a big splash, potentially landing the top player in the coming weeks.
