Bryce Boettcher has brought stability to the linebacker position for the Oregon Ducks over the last three seasons, contributing 236 total tackles in his career. But once he graduates, someone else will have to step up.
There is plenty of talent at the position on the roster, though much of it is unproven.
Two four-star linebackers were signed as part of the incoming 2026 class in Braylon Hodge and Tristan Phillips, with another potentially on the way in 2027.
Toa Satele, a four-star linebacker from Mililani, HI, announced the final three schools that he’s considering for his recruitment. The class of 2027 standout is aiming to stay on the West Coast, as he listed the USC Trojans, Cal Bears and Oregon Ducks in his top three.

The top-rated prospect in the state of Hawaii had been in talks with just USC and Oregon, but that changed when former Ducks defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi was hired as the head coach at Cal.
Speaking to Rivals’ Adam Gorney, Satele noted that Lupoi’s presence with the Bears led to them being on his list, yet Oregon still remains squarely in the mix.
“All the colleges are going through some coaching changes and I feel like it’s the same mentality like a player going down, the next coach just has to come up,” Satele said.
“Tosh leaving was a big key into their success but Oregon has a great environment, especially the fans and everyone being involved in the games and how much they showed love to me and my family and what they did at the game-day visit and their coaching and what they have planned in the future.”
Though both USC and Cal are making pushes for Satele, head coach Dan Lanning and Co. still have a significant shot to land the third-highest ranked linebacker in the 2027 class, per 247 Sports Composite.
