The end of the college football regular season is in sight, and as competition ramps up heading toward conference championship weekend and the College Football Playoff, upsets are brewing.

We saw one major upset take place this past week, with the No. 11 Oklahoma Sooners taking down the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide, causing a shakeup in the SEC title race and the projections for what’s to come in the CFP. Fortunately, the Oregon Ducks were one of the teams that benefited from the Alabama loss, moving up in this week’s US LBM Coaches Poll.

The Ducks now sit at No. 5 in the nation after their 42-13 blowout win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Friday night. Here’s a look at the top of the US LBM Coaches Poll:

  1. Ohio State Buckeyes
  2. Indiana Hoosiers
  3. Texas A&M Aggies
  4. Georgia Bulldogs
  5. Oregon Ducks
  6. Ole Miss Rebels
  7. Texas Tech Red Raiders
  8. Oklahoma Sooners
  9. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
  10. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Oregon is now facing a tough test this weekend in Autzen Stadium, with the No. 16 USC Trojans coming to town for a Big Ten showdown that will hold massive weight in the College Football Playoff race. That game will be played at 12:30 p.m. PST and aired on CBS, and will bring ESPN’s “College GameDay” to Eugene.
