Oregon Ducks open as road favorites vs. USC Trojans

With Week 3 now in the books, the Oregon Ducks can turn their attention to Big Ten play. The Ducks got back on track after blasting Portland State, 84-0, on Friday night, but the competition gets much tougher this week on the road against the USC Trojans.
The Trojans remain undefeated heading into the matchup, while the Ducks are hoping to pick up a marquee victory after losing to Oklahoma State in Week 2. FanDuel Sportsbook released an early line last week that favored the Ducks as the road team in Los Angeles. After the games played out on Saturday, the number has gotten even bigger.
Oregon is now favored by 2.5 points against the Trojans, also sporting -128 odds on the money line. USC survived a close call against Rutgers on the road, winning 42-35, and that helped boost the total points line up two points to 62.5 points. Given what both defenses have shown so far this season, it's fair to assume the Ducks and Trojans will both put up plenty of points next Saturday.
The Ducks covered the spread for the first time this season on Friday, covering a massive 58.5-point spread against the Vikings. Oregon played the starters in the first half, in which Dante Moore tossed four touchdowns, before mixing in the backups and letting Dylan Raiola make a stellar debut in Eugene.
Both USC and Oregon are battling significant injuries that are worth monitoring this week and could ultimately impact the point spread. The Trojans are hoping to get back defensive tackle Jahkeem Stewart, who has yet to play this week, and freshman wideout Trent Mosley is also dealing with an injury. Oregon played on Friday without tight end Jamari Johnson, wideout Jeremiah McClellan and corner Carl Williams IV, all of whom enter the week with an unknown status.
Dan Lanning is 2-0 against Lincoln Riley since they took over their respective programs before the 2022 season. Both of those wins came in Eugene, including a 42-27 victory last November. There is plenty on the line this time around, both in terms of national title hopes and recruiting efforts in Southern California.
Oregon and USC will play in the national spotlight as well. The game is set to kick off at 4:30 p.m. PT and will air live on NBC.
