It's a make-or-break rivalry showdown in September for both the No. 20 Oregon Ducks and the No. 12 USC Trojans. Plenty is on the line in Los Angeles for both programs, both in terms of this season and recruiting wars to set up future rosters.

The Ducks stumbled out of the gate and fell in their first road game of the season against Oklahoma State. The Trojans survived a scare on the road from Rutgers a week ago. Both teams are in desperate need of a win to keep the season on track. The loser, however, will face an uphill battle moving forward.

All eyes are on Dante Moore and Jayden Maiava, as two of the top quarterbacks in the country square off for the second time in as many seasons. Moore has disappointed this season, but could be in line for a massive outing against the USC defense, while Maiava leads the nation in several passing categories.

Dan Lanning and Lincoln Riley are under plenty of scrutiny this season to get their teams over the hurdles they have failed to clear in recent years. For Lanning and the Ducks, that's a national title. For Riley, that's making the College Football Playoff field and beating Oregon. Lanning said this matchup is "not just another game" for Oregon, and the rivalry promises plenty of big moments.

Odds via FanDuel.

  • Prediction:Oregon 39, USC 34. At the beginning of the week, I would’ve picked USC. However, I’ve talked myself into Oregon because I think Dante Moore and the ground game are going to really wake up this week, and Oregon's defense has more depth to make enough plays late.
