Coming from the southeast, many expected Collierville (TN) four-star athlete Tae Walden to stay somewhat close to home. It made sense has four of the five programs in his final five were SEC programs.

Then he took a trip out west to Eugene, Oregon.

That final official visit worked in favor of the Ducks as Walden announced his commitment to Oregon Wednesday afternoon, July 1, choosing them over Auburn Georgia, LSU and Ole Miss.

247Sports ranks the 6-foot-2.5, 165-pounder as the No. 56 overall player, No. 4 athlete and No. 3 player in Tennessee for the 2027 cycle.

The USA TODAY High School Sports composite ranking, a ranking based on the composite rankings from industry leaders, has Walden as the No. 69 overall player in the class and No. 6 athlete.

Walden showed signs of his potential as a sophomore as he caught 15 passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns. He also tallied seven tackles, seven pass breakups and two interceptions.

His junior year is when Walden truly broke on the scene. He led Collierville in receiving with 42 receptions for 912 yards and 10 touchdowns. On defense he was just as effective recording 28 tackles, 17 pass breakups and five interceptions.
