The No. 6 Oregon Ducks football team’s road matchup against Oklahoma State was delayed Saturday morning because of thunderstorms and lightning near Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater. The weather interruption came before the scheduled 11 a.m. CT kickoff and forced players from both teams off the field during pregame warmups.
Oregon football fans received an early look at the delay when Ducks supporter Mike Raabe took to X, formerly Twitter, from the stadium and shared a photo of the video board displaying the official weather alert.

Officials issued the weather alert at approximately 9:45 a.m. CST, about 75 minutes before the scheduled kickoff. Rain had begun falling around the stadium before lightning in the area prompted the suspension.
The matchup was originally scheduled to air on ESPN at noon ET and 9 a.m. PST. As of now, officials are targeting a 10:15 a.m. PST (1:15 p.m. EST) kickoff, per Erik Skopil of 247 Sports.
Lightning protocols require outdoor activity to stop when dangerous strikes occur near a venue. Teams generally must wait at least 30 minutes after the most recent qualifying lightning strike or thunder before resuming activity, with another strike restarting the waiting period.
The delay interrupted Oregon football’s first road trip of the season. The Ducks head into Saturday at 1-0 after opening their campaign with a 34-27 victory over Boise State. Oklahoma State entered 0-1 after a 24-10 road loss to Tulsa.
Saturday’s contest also marks Oklahoma State’s home opener under first-year coach Eric Morris and Oregon’s first trip to Boone Pickens Stadium.
