One of the Oregon Ducks' top commitments in the 2027 recruiting class might be done for the rest of his senior season in high school. Brayton Feister, who committed to the Ducks in August, was ruled ineligible by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) on Monday.

Feister, alongside his younger brother, Brydon, was ruled ineligible for the second half of the season at Massillon Washington High School after transferring between school years. The Canton Repository, part of the USA TODAY Network, first reported the news.

The Feister brothers will challenge the ruling on Tuesday in a court hearing in Stark County. The older Feister is a star running back and linebacker who is committed as a linebacker with the Ducks. As a junior at Archbishop Hoban, Feister made 133 tackles with 39 tackles for loss and 13 sacks. As a running back, Feister had 1,098 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns.

Massillon is undefeated this season, but the Tuesday court hearing could determine the eligibility of six transfer players, including the Feisters. The OSHAA ruling covered three of the six players, approving eligibility for one other player. However, the preliminary injunction hearing on Tuesday could extend, alter or end a temporary restraining order that allowed the six players to play, which was issued on Sept. 25 by a Stark County Common Pleas Court judge.

The OHSAA ruled the Feister brothers ineligible after arguing that the brothers did not qualify for an athletic eligibility exception because the Feister family's move to Massillon was driven by a desire to transfer schools following disciplinary issues at the state wrestling championships. The OSHAA also alleged that Feister's father contacted other schools about enrollment before making the move to Massillon.

The 6-foot-2 linebacker is the No. 131 player in the 2027 recruiting class, per Rivals, and is part of Oregon's class, which ranks No. 4 in the nation. He chose the Ducks over California, Georgia and Ohio State. Feister is one of four linebackers in Oregon's class and could compete for early playing time next season, but his status on the field as a high school senior is worth monitoring.
