A late-night bout between the Oregon Ducks and Nebraska Cornhuskers, facing off for the first time as Big Ten foes, is in store at Autzen Stadium, and both teams desperately are in search of a win. After both teams took narrow losses at home a week ago, the season could be on the line for the Ducks and Cornhuskers in Eugene.
Oregon couldn't have played much worse against UCLA, turning the ball over seven times and falling 17-15. As the Ducks regroup to face Nebraska, with Dante Moore sitting on the sideline once again, Dan Lanning is turning to third-string senior quarterback Brock Thomas for the late-night tilt.
Dylan Raiola, who had three turnovers a week ago, won't draw the start against his former team. Instead, Thomas, a Eugene local who has found success in the past as a backup, will make his first start for his hometown team. Regardless of who is throwing the ball, they will likely be without leading receiver Evan Stewart, who is listed as doubtful on the Big Ten availability report.
On the other side, Nebraska couldn't pull off the massive upset last weekend against Indiana, blowing a fourth-quarter lead, but the Cornhuskers are one of the most well-rounded teams in the conference. Anthony Colandrea has opened Nebraska's offense up to big plays through the air or on the ground, and the Cornhuskers are the best in the nation at getting off the field on third down, thanks in large part to their aggressive pass rush.
One team is destined for a bounce-back victory, while the other will see their season sink quickly with a loss.
