Here we are — exactly 365 days after the Oregon Ducks’ season ended in the College Football Playoff, they are back in the exact same spot. This season, they will face off against the Texas Tech Red Raiders,, who are elite on both sides of the ball.
The Ducks have been favored going into this game, but with both of these squads so evenly matched, it could go either way. Dan Lanning’s team won by three scores against the James Madison Dukes a couple of weeks ago, but he was not at all pleased with how they finished the game.
With nearly two weeks separating that one and this one, there is not a doubt in anyone’s mind that Lanning has been hammering it into his team that last week’s performance wasn’t sufficient. It may not end so well if Oregon gets complacent against this Texas Tech team and he knows it. But this young group has been poised all year and have responded to every challenge or question they’ve faced, so they are more than capable of handling business.
