Oregon Was Actually Much Worse Against Oklahoma State Than Most Realized

Is it unfair to say that Oregon has been the most disappointing team in all of college football to start the season? 

I don't think so, and I'd even go so far as to say most Oregon fans would suggest this team just hasn't played the type of football everyone expected. 

As Oregon enters the next couple of weeks, there's obviously a lot of pressure on the program from top to bottom to win games at a very high level. 

I don't even love to get into the money side of things when it comes to Oregon's roster because I recognize these are still college kids at the end of the day, but when Oregon is spending as much money as it is to put this type of roster on the field, there have to be guys who get the blame when things don't go well. Unfortunately for head coach Dan Lanning, that's going to be his issue.

Lanning has done a fine job winning games at an extremely high level over the past few years, but Oregon is one of those programs expected to win year in and year out. Every season that he doesn't do so is an embarrassment, and that's exactly what happened on Saturday when his team lost to Oklahoma State. 

That's why it's not unfair to see one college football analyst stress just how poorly Oregon played in this game, adding that if it weren't for some defensive plays, Oregon would have been blown out. 

"If not for those two defensive scores, that is a route. A route! The film was alarming for Oregon. On both sides of the ball. I think it's time to panic. It's not just the result, now they're dealing with some injury issues… Injuries are always going to happen, there's no doubt, but you don't want them to happen when you're trying to right the ship,” Joel Klatt said. 

"I was on a deep dive in both last year's film from Oregon, and this year against Boise State, and what did I find? Oregon has run-pass tells in their offense, and this is a devastating deal… but the film was also alarming on the defensive side.”

We already know about the issues on offense, with Dante Moore showing when a run or pass play is happening. 

However, I have a much bigger problem on the defensive side. 

Oregon's defense was expected to be one of the best in the country, but this team can't stop a nosebleed right now. I'm very concerned about how that might look over the next couple of months, though I also wouldn't be surprised if Lanning and his team figure it out.
