The Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning continue to make national headlines before the 2026 college football season.

This offseason, Lanning and the coaching staff did an excellent job of retaining multiple veterans from the 2025 season, including quarterback Dante Moore. And while the Ducks have built one of the best offenses for the upcoming season, the program's best unit may be a surprise to the fanbase.

In a recent article from CBS Sports' Blake Brockermeyer on the top-10 pass-catching units for the 2026 college football season, the Ducks ranked as the top group heading into the year over the likes of the Miami Hurricanes, the Texas Longhorns, and the Tennessee Volunteers.

Oregon's Elite Pass Catching Unit

Lanning has done an excellent job of building up his wide receiver corps over the past few years, and the unit will be led by sophomore Dakorien Moore.

The former five-star high school prospect is coming off an impressive freshman year campaign, finishing with 497 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 33 receptions. Moore missed part of the 2025 season due to an injury, but now, the highly-touted pass catcher will look to make great strides in 2026 and beyond.

In addition to Moore, the Ducks also return star wideout Evan Stewart after missing the entire 2025 college football season.

Stewart posted a resounding 613 receiving yards and five touchdowns during the 2024 season. With Lanning returning both Moore and Stewart in 2026, Oregon's lethal one-two punch offers plenty of weapons for quarterback Dante Moore.

The most intriguing pass catcher for the Ducks in 2026, however, is tight end Jamari Johnson.

Despite playing in the shadow of 2026 first-round pick Kenyon Sadiq last year, Johnson showed plenty of flashes, tallying 510 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 32 receptions. The former Louisville Cardinals' standout will now have an opportunity to boost his stock for the 2027 NFL Draft this season, and with Sadiq's recent success, it's clear that Johnson could follow in his tracks.

While there are a few question marks regarding the Ducks' pass-catching unit, such as how Moore returns from injury and whether or not Johnson can be a true No. 1 tight end, the ample amount of depth within the unit should aid Lanning's efforts to win a National Championship in 2026.
