NORMAN — A few hours after officially punching its ticket into the College Football Playoff, OU football gained a commitment from a 2027 blue-chip recruit.

Four-star defensive lineman Elija Harmon announced his commitment to the Sooners via social media on Sunday. Harmon, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound prospect from Inglewood, California, chose OU over Nebraska, Oregon and USC.

Harmon is the 11th player and first interior defensive lineman to commit to the Sooners' 2027 class, which currently ranks first nationally on 247Sports.com.

Fresh off signing 24 players to OU's 2026 recruiting class, general manager Jim Nagy teased last week that positive news for the Sooners was coming soon.

After all, Nagy can now point to the CFP logo next to OU and use it as a recruiting tool.

"The exciting thing about ’27 is we’re all on the same page," Nagy said. " … Hopefully we can keep the momentum going in the 2027 classes. Like I said, we’re off to a good start there. There are some guys that haven’t announced publicly that we’re really excited about that will announce publicly soon, which will make the class look even better.

"Hopefully we just keep riding this positive momentum."
