NORMAN — Oklahoma is hot on the recruiting trail.
For the second time this week, the Sooners have flipped a 2026 commitment. This time, safety Markel Ford chose to switch from SMU to OU. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound prospect from Dallas had been committed to the Mustangs since April.
The Horn High School standout took an official visit during the Sooners' win over Missouri last Saturday.
Ford is OU's latest flip after the Sooners garnered a commitment from former Texas A&M running back commit Jonathan Hatton Jr. on Monday.
Ford joins Niko Jandreau as safeties committed to the Sooners' 2026 class.
With the three-day early National Signing Day period beginning next Wednesday, OU has shown it's not done adding to its 2026 class yet.
