NORMAN — Oklahoma football and SMU are taking their 2027 matchup to a different stage.

The Sept. 11, 2027, game between the Sooners and Mustangs, originally scheduled to take place at SMU's Gerald Ford Stadium, will instead be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the schools announced Thursday.

The move sends OU back to a venue that has become synonymous with winning. The Sooners will be playing at AT&T Stadium for the ninth time and are 6-2 there, including a perfect 5-0 record in Big 12 Championship games. OU has won its last five games played in the Dallas Cowboys' home.

"We were happy to work with SMU and AT&T Stadium to make this happen, as it will allow more fans of both programs to attend and cheer in person," Sooners athletic director Joe Castiglione said in a statement. "While our program's history at AT&T Stadium is somewhat short, it has certainly been meaningful."

In addition to winning five conference championships in Arlington, OU also secured a Cotton Bowl victory.

The 2027 meeting is the return game of a home-and-home series that began in Norman in 2023, when the Sooners defeated SMU 28-11. OU leads the all-time series 6-1-1.

Game time and ticket information for the 2027 contest will be announced at a later date.
