The Oklahoma Sooners could use a versatile, elite playmaking defender in their 2027 recruiting class for Brent Venables’ defense.
The Oklahoma Sooners currently only have three defensive backs in their 2027 recruiting class. Sure, it’s the No. 1 class in the country with elite players everywhere, but there’s still some work to be done. There are plenty of needs they still have to address to make it a complete class.
One of those needs is the secondary. The cornerback spot isn’t really a worry. There is hope, and some belief, that OU is going to land elite in-state CB Gabriel Osborne. He is currently projected by On3 to commit to OU over Oklahoma State.
Not to mention, there are two cornerbacks they already have committed in four-star Mikhail McCreary and three-star Mikyal Davis. OU is also projected to land Trenton Blaylock, a Texas cornerback and the brother of RB Tory Blaylock.
As far as the safety position, Oklahoma just has Jaylen Scott, the four-star safety from Alabama. They could use another one, or a guy who can play in the slot. And, if he can be that Vheetah position for the Sooners, even better.
Sooners just sent an offer out to 2027 four-star DB Bryce Williams
They just sent an offer to 2027 four-star DB Bryce Williams. He can play CB, safety, and slot. And maybe he can play Cheetah, depending on how he develops. Williams was at Florida State, but has since decommitted and is looking for his future home. The 6’2, 180-pound DB has offers from nearly everyone.
However, it would appear, based on Rivals Rankings, that Nebraska has the best shot at landing the Fort Lauderdale, Florida four-star.
Bryce Williams’ possible schools based on Rivals’ prediction system
- Clemson
- Auburn
- Florida
- Colorado
The Sooners are starting from behind, so they have a lot of work left to do if they really want Williams. Luckily, they are projected to land four-star safety Bode Sparrow and have a legit shot at landing three-star safety Bryson Brown. So, they will be fine, but Williams is a stud athlete who could help take this class to even new heights.
