Pat McAfee’s field goal contest has seen many unique moments since he first joined College GameDay. Saturday’s visit to Tuscaloosa presented the ESPN personality with a new opportunity.

The popular college football pregame show has featured many people winning big money in 2026. However, Week 5’s long-awaited return to Iowa saw a Hawkeyes fan deliver one of the worst kicks in the segment’s history.

Alabama fans Sam and Mason joined McAfee for the latest installment, and there were several interesting twists, both from the Crimson Tide supporters and the exuberant ESPN personality.

McAfee originally picked Sam to be the kicker for Week 6, but ultimately Mason was put into the spotlight by his friend. That unfortunately didn’t go well for him, as he missed not one but two kicks for a chance at over $500,000.

McAfee has given away millions of dollars this season to college students and worthy charitable causes. That includes Tennessee and Texas football fans each nailing their kicks in style recently.

But the host of The Pat McAfee Show didn’t make this week’s kick any easier for Mason. The 39-year-old added two dummy blockers in front of the kicker while Kirk Herbstreit held the ball.

Thankfully, McAfee said he’ll still donate $500,000 to hurricane relief for the Alabama area. The southern United States are currently facing intense weather conditions from Hurricane Isaias.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are set to host the Georgia Bulldogs in primetime SEC action on Saturday. The two SEC teams enter the matchup undefeated, with both programs boasting top-10 rankings in the latest AP Top 25 poll.
