Paul Finebaum: 'All Signs' Pointing Toward Lane Kiffin Leaving Ole Miss

No coach in the country has more options than Lane Kiffin right now. After leading Ole Miss to what will likely be a third consecutive double-digit win season, the 50-year-old Rebs HC can have his pick of just about any job he wants — college or pro.

And with a number of high-profile opportunities opening up, it’s anyone’s guess as to which way the son of the late NFL coordinator could be leaning. However, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum believes its increasingly clear where Kiffin will eventually end up when it’s all said and done.

Appearing on the Matt Barrie show, the SEC Network personality have his opinion on the lay of the land when it comes to Kiffin’s immediate football future.

Finebaum: ‘Everything seems to be pointing to’ one school

“Yeah, I mean, Ole Miss has not played at the highest level lately. But they’re getting by,” Finebaum admitted in a conversation with Matt Barrie over the weekend. “I don’t understand Florida. Let’s not waste a lot of time on them.”

“One week they take off. The next week they come back and look like a team that’s capable of making a run. Lane Kiffin is the story right now. As the week unfolded last week, the Kiffin rumors started going crazy.”

“We’re not here to discuss rumors, but you could not avoid it, and everybody seems to know something. He is going to have a difficult time these next couple of weeks dealing with it,” the CFB personality continued. “Because everything seems to be pointing toward Florida. It appears the governor did a good job of taking Lane Kiffin out of the LSU situation. Now, how does he deal with it?”

Lane Kiffin sidesteps coaching rumors after UF victory

As active as Lane is on social media he’s almost certainly heard all of the speculation surrounding his name. However, the Rebs coach decided to mostly tiptoe around them following Saturday’s win over the Gators.

“I love what we’re doing here,” Kiffin said. “Today was awesome. To even talk about it right now would be so disrespectful to our players and what they did today. We’ve got a lot of things going on right now and we’re doing really well.”

It’s hard to imagine that if Kiffin stays in college he wouldn’t remain in the SEC. But there’s always the chance that he reunited with his former quarterback as the next HC of the New York Giants after the franchise moved off of Brian Daboll last week.
