Paul Finebaum sounds off on LSU’s potential expulsion from SEC

LSU continues to be front and center in the college football world.

After beating Clemson 51-10 on Saturday, Sept. 5, the school faces threats of expulsion from the SEC over a legal battle involving former professional football players.

While ESPN’s Pete Thamel doesn’t think LSU will get voted out, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum said the SEC “can and will” survive without LSU if the conference decides to move forward with the ban.

“I’ll tell you one thing: The SEC can survive and will survive without LSU,” Finebaum said on “First Take.” “This is far more important than those 102,000 people. This is about the future of college sports right here, and the commissioner and 15 other presidents are sending a message: ‘You guys are spitting in our face, and we’re gonna throw you out if you don’t sit down and get along.’ And if the president at LSU doesn’t stand up, they will do that.”

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and member presidents and chancellors will meet Thursday to discuss expelling LSU from the league. The conference considering such a measure shows how upset it is with LSU’s actions.

This will definitely be a story to follow throughout the rest of the week. In the meantime, the LSU football program will continue prepping for its next game against Louisiana Tech this Saturday.
