PCA football hires Marty Euverard, a former Oakland and longtime MBA coach

Longtime Nashville area TSSAA football coach Marty Euverard will be back on the sidelines in 2026.

The former MBA coach, who has two state titles with two different programs, has been named Providence Christian Academy football coach, replacing Lebron Ferguson, who resigned in early February.

Ironically it was Ferguson who replaced Euverard at Oakland in 2004 after Euverard left and took the coaching position at Jefferson County.

Euverard, a Tennessee Football Coaches Association Hall of Famer, spent 14 seasons at MBA before resigning following the 2024 season.

He went 121-52 with the Big Red, winning the 2014 DII-AA state championship while also leading them to six state runner-up finishes in eight seasons during the 2015-2022 seasons.

The 2022 season saw MBA go 12-1 under current Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed, reaching the state title game before falling 28-27 to McCallie.

Overall Euverard, who graduated from Cherokee High School in Rogersville, Tennessee, and played college football at MTSU, is 189-113 overall in 26 seasons, having also coached at Clarksville and BGA.

His first state title came at Oakland in 1998, leading the Patriots to the Class 5A championship.

PCA, which started football in 2020 and has only been a member of TSSAA for three seasons, went to the playoffs in each of those years under Ferguson.

The Lions enjoyed their best season in 2025, finishing 9-3 and reaching the DII-A state semifinals before falling to University School of Jackson.
