While everyone’s attention has turned to the transfer portal for Penn State, they still have not stopped making headway in their recruiting efforts for the class of 2026. That was evidenced on Sunday when another three star athlete flipped his commitment to join the Nittany Lions.
Josiah Zayas, a defensive back out of Piscataway, New Jersey, announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions this weekend, posting about his new allegiance on social media.

Zayas was initially signed to play with the Iowa State Cyclones, but much like other players, he decided to release himself from that letter of intent and follow Matt Campbell to Happy Valley.
Zayas is 6-2 and 190 pounds and in his high school career, he played on both sides of the ball. On defense, he totaled 67 tackles and nine interceptions, while offensively, he contributed 29 touchdowns.
This is somewhat of a major boost to Penn State’s recruiting rankings. While the addition of Zayas only boosts them up to 97th nationally, they were at one point ranked outside of the top 132 FBS schools in the 2026 recruiting. Now, due to several Iowa State flips, the Penn State recruiting class is not looking too shabby. It now stands at 12 players with Zayas’ commitment.
