Columbus (Ohio) Bishop Watterson three-star offensive tackle Pete Eglitis has committed to Penn State.
The one-time Iowa State signee is following head coach Matt Campbell from Ames to Happy Valley. He becomes Penn State’s seventh commit in 2026.
Eglitis is the No. 112 OT and No. 81 player in Ohio, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the No. 1,536 prospect overall.
The 6-foot-7, 270-pounder was released from his letter of intent to Iowa State once it was announced that Campbell was leaving to take the reins at PSU. He’s now the fifth prospect in the cycle to make the switch from Iowa State to the Nittany Lions.
“Coach Campbell’s press conference at Penn State says it,” Eglitis told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong earlier this month. “The culture he builds, the development he and his coaches provide is second to none.”
Eglitis’ offer list also included the likes of Kentucky, Louisville, Pitt, Mizzou and Georgia Tech. He’s the lone offensive lineman in the Penn State class, which went through serious turnover after longtime head coach James Franklin was fired midseason this fall.
Campbell adds another former Iowa State signee
As expected, Campbell is trying to bring over plenty of former Iowa State signees. Eglitis is the latest to do just that, following Lincoln (Neb.) North Star three-star safety Tyrell Chatman, Omaha (Neb.) Westside three-star safety Bryson Williams, Lexington (Texas) three-star quarterback Kase Evans and Saint Charles (Ill.) North punter Lucas Tenbrock.
During the National Signing Period, PSU ended up inking just two prospects: Phoenixville (Pa.) Malvern Prep four-star EDGE Jackson Ford and Nazareth (Pa.) four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone.
Ford headlines as the No. 222 overall prospect and No. 25 EDGE in the nation. He was the lone recruit to stay committed to PSU after Franklin was fired. Falzone was a one-time PSU pledge, but flipped to Auburn. He then decommitted and landed back with the in-state program on Dec. 3. He’s the No. 297 recruit and No. 20 QB in the cycle.
“I’m really excited,” Ford told BWI about the hiring of Campbell. “I think he’s going to bring new energy to the program, and I’m really excited to see how he starts out during his first couple of weeks there. I’m really glad that when I get there, he’ll already be in place and know how everything works there.”
